CCF Newsletter

We'll be starting our very first CCF Newsletter for the 2009-2010 school year. The first edition will be published in September in conjunction with the Frosh Handbook. The CCF Newsletter will allow alumni and frosh to get an idea of what is currently going on at CCF. As for preparation, I would like to invite you all to be a part of this newsletter, if you have thoughts/reflection/testimonies you would like to share or words of wisdom/advice for the frosh, please email them to me (Kenneth).

Thanks

Urbana 09

Urbana is the missions conference for North American student hosted by InterVarsity Christian Fellowship/USA and Inter-Varsity Christian Fellowship of Canada. Urbana 09 will be our 22nd conference. The first "Urbana" was held in Toronto in 1946. From 1948 to 2003, the conference was held at the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana. Since 2006, Urbana has been held at the Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis, Missouri. Generations of college students have come to Urbana to hear about cutting edge issues missions and respond to the call to participate in God's global mission. During the five days of Urbana participants will experience multicultural worship and drama, dynamic speakers, in-depth Bible study and prayer. They will also be encouraged to explore short-term and vocational opportunities as they interact with representatives from more than 300 mission agencies and educational institutions. Attendance at Urbana is usually around 20,000.

Urbana 09 will be held December 27-31, 2009.

At Urbana 09 you’ll learn about critical global issues from dynamic teachers, worship with thousands in one of the most diverse gatherings in North America, and be challenged by missional students and recent graduates who testify to God’s faithfulness to the ends of the earth.

Please register at www.urbana09.org and contact your home church to see if subsidies are available.

SUMMER CCF

As part of our summer CCF program, we are inviting you all to come up with ideas as to what you would like to do over the summer. So if you have any suggestions for the summer program, please email them to Jon Fung.

Also if you have other activities that you would like to invite/share with the rest of CCF, such as going jogging, watching a movie, Bible study or prayer meeting. Please feel free to email them to Kenneth Leung and they will be posted on the CCF Google Calendar and the CCF Website.

Summer BIG PICTURE New Testament reading!!

As part of next year's vision of CCF, "To Learn and to Live", here is an opportunity to join in with brothers and sisters in UTCCF to read the whole New Testament during the summer. This serves the purpose of equipping ourselves with the LIVING WORD of GOD which is also called the Sword of the Spirit (Galatians 6:17). This will be helpful for those who are thinking of serving in different capacities next year in UTCCF.

"All Scripture is God-breathed and useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work." - 2 Timothy 3:16-17

This is how it will work:
There is a 17 week (From May 11th to Sep 6th) breakdown of the New Testament which will consist of approximately 2 to 4 chapters a day of NT awesomeness. This reading plan is intended for BIG PICTURE reading meaning it is aimed for us to have:
1. a holistic picture of the New Testament
2. a good idea of the general themes presented and where they are found
3. some background and context of each of the 27 books found in the NT

The material is a lot but given the purpose being big picture reading, feel free to skim through certain passages for a general idea and do not feel the absolute need to catch up. Pace yourselves wisely and don't burn out!! A CCF Blog has been set up. Please visit and subscribe to the blog, all updates will be delivered via a RSS feed. Also please click on the SCHEDULE button for more information on the reading schedule.

If you wish to join us, please contact tuckvoon@utccf.com or tsueyho@utccf.com and they will be sending you weekly updates/guidelines for you to follow the readings.
